“Openpool -- Proposed Retail ATS in 2026

Blox Markets plans to launch a retail liquidity ATS, Openpool, in 1H26. It expects to make retail liquidity accessible to all US broker-dealers, while improving retail outcomes with natural liquidity, as a complement to the payment-for-order-flow (PFOF) structure. Openpool trading will be continuous, with an inverse-fee model that charges liquidity providers. Initially, it won't provide rebates, but management plans to add a second rebate order book shortly that will compensate liquidity takers similar to PFOF. It's incentivizing market makers with an equity-rights program, but will also need to prove execution quality to attract retail brokers and liquidity providers. Participants can choose to interact with specific retail or institutional segments, but the ATS won't feature counterparty selection or private rooms.”
